Use cases

Who is Groupanda for?

The workspace for private communities, free or paid.

How different groups use Groupanda

Groupanda is for anyone who runs a private group online and wants the conversation, the members and access control in one workspace. It fits nonprofits and clubs, professional networks, gaming communities, neighborhood groups, alumni groups and communities that outgrew a group chat. Groups that charge a membership fee collect it there too.

  • Nonprofits and clubs

An announcements channel members can only read, a channel for each topic, and membership fees paid monthly, yearly or once. Sports clubs, hobby clubs and societies fit here too.

Other kinds of groups

  • Professional networks

Members who know each other by name, a channel for each topic, and an owner who decides how people join.

  • Gaming communities

A channel for each game or topic, with admins who ban and mute. Members share photos, documents and voice messages.

  • Neighborhood groups

Neighbors who share news and help each other. An announcements channel carries what everyone has to read, and joining after approval keeps the group to people you know.

  • Alumni groups

A group people join once and come back to for years, with admins for the few who organize it.

  • Communities that outgrew a group chat

The real-time chat that people already know, split into channels, with admins so one person no longer does everything.

What do these groups have in common?

Every one of these groups needs the same three things. Only members see the conversations. Each topic has its own channel. The owner decides how people join. Joining can be open, by invitation through the group's invite link, or after approval. An open group is listed in Groupanda search. A group joined by invitation or after approval is not.

Groupanda runs on the web, on iOS and on Android. The same workspace appears on all three.

Free for every group, paid when the owner chooses

Every group can run on the free plan, which has no member limit and no time limit. A group charges its members only once its owner turns on paid access. In a paid group, the member pays the price the group owner set. Out of that payment, Groupanda keeps a 6% platform fee. Stripe's processing fee is deducted from the group owner's payout. Nothing is added on top of what the member pays. Stripe Connect pays out to the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Norway, Liechtenstein, Canada, and Switzerland. Groupanda charges no monthly fee and no fee per member.

The example shows a group's Pricing tab in Groupanda: free joining is on, and each plan is listed with its price and the number of members on it.

Questions about who Groupanda is for

Is Groupanda for a public audience?

Groupanda is for private groups. A member joins a specific group and talks in its channels, and only members see a group's conversations. An open group is listed in Groupanda search, and a group joined by invitation or after approval is not.

Is Groupanda only for groups that charge a fee?

No. Groupanda is for free groups and paid groups alike. A group on Groupanda can stay on the free plan, with no member limit and no time limit. It charges its members only once its owner turns on paid access. Members then pay for access to the channels of the plans they buy, and free channels stay open to every member.
